Breaking: Claude Mythos Now Available on Amazon Bedrock

Anthropic's most advanced AI model to date, Claude Mythos, is now accessible as a gated research preview on Amazon Bedrock through Project Glasswing. This new model class focuses on cybersecurity, capable of identifying sophisticated vulnerabilities in software, analyzing large codebases, and delivering state-of-the-art performance across security, coding, and complex reasoning tasks.

"Claude Mythos represents a significant leap forward in AI-assisted cybersecurity," said an AWS spokesperson. "Security teams can now discover and address vulnerabilities in critical software before threats emerge." Access is currently limited to allowlisted organizations, with Anthropic and AWS prioritizing internet-critical companies and open-source maintainers.

AWS Agent Registry in Preview

Alongside the model launch, AWS announced the Agent Registry through Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, now in preview. The registry provides organizations with a private catalog for discovering and managing AI agents, tools, skills, MCP servers, and custom resources.

"Teams can locate existing capabilities rather than duplicating them," the spokesperson explained. The registry features semantic and keyword search, approval workflows, and CloudTrail audit trails. It is accessible via the AgentCore Console, AWS CLI, SDK, and as an MCP server queryable from IDEs.

Background

These releases come as organizations rapidly adopt AI but struggle with governance and cost control. Many teams lack visibility into which users consume which AI resources, leading to budget overruns and security gaps.

Amazon Bedrock, the managed service for building generative AI applications, has been expanding its model catalog and management tools. The addition of Claude Mythos addresses growing demand for AI that can proactively defend against cyber threats.

What This Means

For enterprises, Claude Mythos offers a new layer of defense: AI that can autonomously scan codebases for zero-day vulnerabilities. Combined with the Agent Registry, organizations can standardize AI agent usage and prevent shadow IT.

AWS also launched cost allocation by IAM user and role for Bedrock, enabling teams to tag IAM principals with attributes like team or cost center. Cost data flows into AWS Cost Explorer and detailed Cost and Usage Reports, providing clear insight into model inference spending. "This feature is a game changer for tracking and managing AI investments," the spokesperson added.

Additionally, Amazon S3 Files is now available, making S3 buckets accessible as file systems using Amazon EFS technology. This delivers full file system semantics with low latency and high throughput, bridging compute and storage.

These updates signal AWS's commitment to enterprise-grade AI governance, security, and cost management. Early adopters can apply for Claude Mythos access via the Bedrock console.
