Denon Unveils Siri-Enabled Home Speakers as Apple HomePod Line Stagnates

By

Denon today launched its new Home series of smart speakers—the Home 200, Home 400, and Home 600—all of which integrate Apple's Siri and AirPlay 2. The move directly targets users left in limbo by Apple's extended pause on HomePod updates.

Priced from $349 to $899, the three models offer premium audio with adaptive room tuning and multi-room capabilities. Industry analyst Mark Kavanagh of TechVoice Research called it "a calculated play for the Apple home audio loyalist who craves better sound than the existing HomePod mini can deliver."

“Denon is capitalizing on Apple's silence,” Kavanagh said. “The upstream support for Siri and AirPlay is seamless, but the real advantage is the acoustic performance—these speakers compete with high-end bookshelf speakers, not just smart assistants.”

Background

Apple released its second-generation full-size HomePod in early 2023, but the product has not received significant updates since. The HomePod mini debuted in 2020 and has gone without a refresh for over four years. During that time, competitors like Sonos, Amazon, and Google have iterated aggressively.

Denon, a veteran in the high-fidelity audio space, previously offered HEOS-based speakers. The new Home series marks its first dedicated Apple Home lineup. All models support both Siri voice control and AirPlay 2, allowing users to group speakers across rooms or integrate with existing Apple smart home setups.

What This Means

For Apple users who value superior sound but want native Siri integration, the Denon Home series presents a viable third-party alternative. The timing also puts pressure on Apple to either refresh its HomePod line or risk losing ecosystem share to partners like Denon.

“If Apple doesn't deliver a compelling HomePod update soon, they'll watch their smart-speaker market splinter into third-party solutions,” warned Kavanagh. “Denon's pricing and audio chops could make this a lasting shift.”

The Denon Home 200 is a compact model suitable for small rooms, while the Home 400 and 600 offer larger drivers and deeper bass for whole-home audio. All three are available now at select retailers and through Denon's website.
