How to Harness AWS's New Amazon Quick Desktop App and Agentic AI Tools
Introduction
Imagine taking a week off to explore ancient ruins, only to return and find that the cloud computing landscape has shifted again. That’s exactly what happened after my recent trip to York, England—a city steeped in medieval history. While the abbey stones have stood unchanged for a millennium, AWS just rolled out transformative updates to Amazon Quick and Amazon Connect. This step-by-step guide will help you get started with the new Amazon Quick desktop app, its visual asset generation capabilities, and the expanded agentic AI solutions from Amazon Connect. You’ll learn how to sign up, install, integrate, and build custom apps—all without needing an AWS account for Quick. By the end, you’ll be ready to upgrade your workflows with these cutting-edge tools.

What You Need
- A personal email address or accounts with Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon credentials (no AWS account required for Amazon Quick).
- A compatible computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux) to run the desktop app (Preview).
- Access to apps you want to connect: Google Workspace, Zoom, Airtable, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams (for native integrations).
- Optional: An AWS account if you plan to also explore Amazon Connect agentic AI solutions.
- A stable internet connection.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Sign Up for Amazon Quick
Visit the Amazon Quick website and click Sign Up. You can use your personal email or log in with your Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon credentials—no AWS account is necessary. The process takes just minutes. Once signed up, you’ll land on the Quick dashboard where you can start interacting with the AI assistant.
Step 2: Install the Desktop App (Preview)
Navigate to the settings or downloads section in Quick and download the desktop app for your operating system. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts. The desktop app keeps you connected to local files, your calendar, and communications without needing a browser. After installation, log in with the same credentials you used in Step 1.
Step 3: Connect Your Productivity Apps
In the desktop app, go to the Integrations tab. You’ll see options to connect Google Workspace, Zoom, Airtable, Dropbox, and Microsoft Teams. Click each one and authorize access. Quick will learn what matters to you by analyzing your connected apps, enabling it to take action on your behalf, like scheduling meetings or pulling data.
Step 4: Generate Visual Assets Using Natural Language
Open the chat interface within Quick. Type a request such as: “Create a polished presentation about Q3 sales figures” or “Generate an infographic showing team performance.” Quick will produce documents, presentations, infographics, and images directly in the chat. You can refine the output by asking for adjustments to style, colors, or content.
Step 5: Build Custom Apps with Quick (Preview)
Still in the chat, ask Quick to “Build an app to track project tasks” or “Create a dashboard for customer feedback.” Using natural language, Quick will generate intelligent apps, dashboards, and web pages that connect to your business data. You can then customize them further with additional commands. This feature is currently in preview.

Step 6: Explore Amazon Connect Agentic AI Solutions (Optional)
If your organization uses Amazon Connect, you now have access to four new solutions. To get started, log into the AWS Management Console and navigate to Amazon Connect. Choose from:
- Amazon Connect Decisions: for supply chain planning using 30 years of Amazon operational science.
- Amazon Connect Talent (Preview): for AI-led hiring interviews and assessments.
- Amazon Connect Customer: for personalized customer service across voice, chat, and digital channels (this is the classic Amazon Connect, now with new configuration capabilities).
Select the solution that fits your use case and follow the setup wizard. These tools work within your existing workflows and require an AWS account.
Tips for Success
- Start simple: Begin with basic text queries before moving to complex app builds.
- Leverage the desktop app: Keep it running in the background for quick access to your files and calendar.
- Integrate wisely: Only connect apps you use regularly; Quick learns faster with a focused set of data.
- Review generated assets: Always double-check AI-created content for accuracy, especially in business presentations.
- Explore pricing plans: Amazon Quick introduced new pricing plans alongside the desktop app—choose one that matches your usage patterns.
- Stay updated: AWS and OpenAI deepened their partnership during the April 28 event. Keep an eye on future integrations with AI agents that can automate even more tasks.
- Use the sign-up link to jump directly to registration.
These steps should get you up and running with the latest AWS innovations. Whether you’re a developer building custom apps or a business user automating workflows, the new Amazon Quick and Amazon Connect updates bring powerful agentic AI to your fingertips.
